a Great night!
Sponsored by the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, the yearly Conjunto Festival is here! Starting off with the CD release party on Wednesday. Bene Medina y su Conjunto, as well as Jesse Borrego Sr. y su conjunto played. Can’t help but say, this gets an official “nombre shut up!” I LOVE THESE GUYS!
Just down to visit mom and dad. Always pop in to visit my friend, the late great painter Fred Bustinza’s mother, Francis Bustinza. She stocks me well with native Texas plants everytime!
Semana Santa March 29, 2010. Morelia Michoacan.
Templo de Capuchinas, Templo de San Francisco, Templo de las Monjas, Templo de San Jose
I hadn’t been to Morelia is probably 20 years. Richer and deeper in beauty that I ever would have imagined. A splendor in my lifetime for sure.
2010 Semana Santa/Holy Week in Mexico City and surroundings.
Señor de la Humilidad is a tiny capillita between all this modern hustle and bustle. Somehow it survived the landscape and is the only thing of its time left.
San Miguel Arcangel was the last stop for me on Saturday. The church had just opened and no one was inside. Observing holy week and covering saints.

Imaculada de la Concepcion has always been a curiosity to me probably because it appears to be a tiny capilla in the middle of the busy EJE Central! A busy Eje it is, ‘cept the capila is a bit larger than I always thought. The ceiling is grand!
Regina Coeli was a maginificent offering of altars. Loved it!

Hipolito, I have been to dozens of times as well as Sta. Vera Cruz. As lovely as I remember both of them.
San Francisco is this hidden sleeping bear with giant bear paintings insides. The entrance is in repair and covered.

As soon as I got to my hotel, drop the bags and hit the streets. The first church to visit was San Fernando and what a way to start my trip! Sacred indeed.

Found this folder “misc” in my files. Forgot about these. Joel Guzman, Flaco Jimenez, Mingo Saldivar signing autographs at the Hohner booth. Going ons around the area. San Antonio people are beautiful.
Today’s ride to Braunig Lake. Start out at Mission Concepcion then procede south on the mission trail. Find Southton then keep going. Ride along the feeder road to the turn around underneath I-37. Wonderful day for a ride!
Nice cold morning ride to Braunig Lake via the Mission Trail. A stop at Mission San Jose then sites along the road.
There is no bus station. If you’re travelling from Valles or Rio Verde ask to reach “Crucero de Aquismon”. Take a taxi from there into Aquismon about 3km. Market is on Saturdays. There was also a wedding, hence the bottle rockets.

En the Barrio San Thelmo in Buenos Aires is one of the best antique markets I have ever been to in my life. It goes around Plaza Dorrego but also spills into the surrounding streets.
Heres 9 or 10 shots from this years stop in Oaxaca. The previous trip was 1978, when I was just a kid!

Alright, 2nd night of editing some Mexican pics. These lovely saints spoke to me. They’ve served years of faith.
Just a handful of images I captured from a trip to Mexico city and Oaxaca. There’ll probably be more as I go back and edit things endlessly. Photos taken August 2009
